When Barry Quinlan and Sam Duffy, the songwriters and guitarists of Bleech 9:3, first met, it seemed almost unbelievable that they hadn’t met before. During their tumultuous teenage years, when they played in various bands in Dublin, they had led almost parallel lives, entangled in the chaotic spiral of addiction; like two shadows cast by the same light, but never touching. Soon after they met, the foundation for Bleech 9:3 was laid. “When it came to recovery and sobriety, we understood each other on a deep level. It felt like we were building something very, very special,” says Barry. Three years after Barry and Sam’s chance meeting, Bleech 9:3 is at the height of their success. With James Quinlan (bass) and Luke O’Neill (drums) in the lineup, the band is one of the most in-demand new live acts on the circuit, having opened for Keo and Shame during the tumultuous year of 2025 and played sold-out headline shows. With just a handful of singles to their name, the band has already established a sound that is as evocative as it is raw and straightforward.
